College Ring: A Thing To Be Proud Of
Your college diploma is your passport to the real world. After graduation, you’re officially enrolled to the so-called ‘University of Life’ and you’re very much eligible for freedom and independence. However, the greatest symbolism for your accomplishment is your college ring.
A college ring is also called a class ring, a grad ring, and a senior ring. The tradition of wearing college ring had actually begun in the 1830s. Its purpose is to symbolize the accomplishments of the alumni for all their struggles and hard-works as students. Other than that, it’s also one way for the alumni of recognizing one another.
Apart from having it as a school tradition, there is also a challenge for achieving your own college ring. Although every alumnus has the right to get their own, those who qualify for certain standards set by the school usually may avail their own rings earlier as some sort of reward. Certain qualifications include passing the allowed grade or what is considered a good class standing, accomplishing a certain hour of class work and being able to fulfill other requirements. Those who weren’t able to pass these standards can only avail their own ring after graduation.
